AIRR Develops International Partnerships for the Benefit of Regions
The Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) held a working meeting between the Government of Novosibirsk Oblast and the Indian scientific and technological cluster Hyderabad - Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH). The discussion focused on cooperation in science, technology, and innovation. Participants included RICH CEO Rashmi Pimpale, heads of several cluster directions, and from the Russian side – Deputy Governor of Novosibirsk Oblast Irina Manuilova and Director of the State Autonomous Institution of Novosibirsk Oblast “Novosibirsk Regional Innovation Fund” Alexey Nizkovsky.
It's worth noting that AIRR regions had previously become acquainted with the ecosystem of the Indian scientific and technological cluster, which unites a wide range of industrial and scientific partners, during a visit to the Republic of India (organized by the Association for its members in March 2025).
During the recent online meeting, Novosibirsk Oblast presented its scientific and innovation potential in more detail, including the region's key competencies in materials science, chemistry, and biotechnologies. Special attention was paid to the mega-science project SKIF, which opens new prospects for conducting cutting-edge research using synchrotron radiation and addressing a wide range of scientific challenges in chemistry, physics, biology, geology, ecology, medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
Novosibirsk Oblast also invited the Indian side to participate in the international forum “Technoprom-2026” as a partner, as the platform creates conditions for direct contacts in scientific and technological cooperation and launching joint projects in pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies, and future medicine. For its part, AIRR is ready to act as coordinator of the Russian-Indian track of events within the forum.
Head of the Association's international department Elena Chernova noted that the opportunities presented by Novosibirsk Oblast, including the mega-science project SKIF and the region's scientific and technological infrastructure, as well as the international forum “Technoprom-2026,” form a unique platform for launching joint Russian-Indian projects.
